Hello there,
my name is Dottie. I was found roaming the streets,
extremely malnourished. Some lady spotted me and brought
me here to the APA, The vet tech realized something wasn't
right when I kept drooling. After some tests they found
chemicals in my mouth. They think someone was trying to
brush my teeth with some kind of cleaner. I didn't drink
it because the chemicals weren't in my throat and trust me
it did didn't taste good enough to drink. The staff here
is good to me. I don't like laying on the hard ground so
they put out a blanket especially for me.
My surgeries
cost over $600 and the APA was kind enough to pay for it.
Can you help me pay them back so they can help other
puppies in need?
Items can be drop
shipped from the retailer, dropped off at the shelter or given to our
volunteers at one of our mobile adoption events.

My name is Toby and this
is the story of how the Granite City APA saved my life. My
siblings and I came to the APA with the deadly Parvo virus. Parvo
is like the flu is to humans, but 100 times worse. Without
immediate medical attention, we only had a 20 percent chance of
survival.
The APA worked day and night with medications, IV fluids and
wrapping us in warm towels from the dryer to keep us comfortable.
After several days of touch and go, we finally started to show
progress. I could finally eat and drink without getting sick to my
stomach.
I am now 100 percent healthy and have found a new family of my
own. I finally feel and play like a puppy again!
Please consider donating to the Granite City APA. I know they
don't have much money and they spent a lot on my siblings and me.
With your help and donations, the Granite City APA has rescued
almost 500 animals every year just like me.
Signed, Toby
Parvovirus
is a viral disease of dogs. It affects puppies much more
frequently than it affects adult dogs. The virus attacks and
kills intestinal lining cells, causing diarrhea (often
bloody), depression and suppression of white blood cells. In
very young puppies it can infect the heart muscle and lead
to "sudden" death. The surest way to avoid parvo infection
in your dog is to adhere to the recommended vaccination
schedule which begins when puppies are 6 to 8 weeks old.
