In memory of Dottie
Hello there,
my name is Dottie. I was found roaming the streets,
extremely malnourished. Some lady spotted me and brought
me here to the APA. The vet tech realized something was
wrong when I kept drooling. After some tests they found I
had CUPS disease. The staff here
was good to me and I tried my best, but I had to go to
Rainbow Bridge.
My surgeries
cost over $600 and the APA was kind enough to pay for it.
Can you help me pay them back so they can help other
puppies in need?
Items can be drop
shipped from the retailer, dropped off at the shelter or given to our
volunteers at one of our mobile adoption events.
Volunteers Needed!
We are looking for volunteers at the shelter, fundraisers or our
mobile adoptions events. This is a great opportunity to have fun,
meet new people and help animals all at the same time. For as
little as one day a month, you can make a huge difference in the
life of one of our animals! For more information please
email us at critters@gcapa.org
The Animal Rescue Site
is hosting a special challenge for eligible Petfinder.com member
shelter and rescue groups. The grand prize is a $25,000 grant,
and they will be awarding many other grants to rescue groups
with the most votes — a total of $100,000 in grants for animal
welfare organizations.
Think of how many
animals we could help for $25,000!

We are a non profit "no-kill" animal shelter, located in the woods
in a secluded part of Granite City, Illinois just across the river
from St. Louis, Missouri. No animal you ever see at the shelter will
be "put to sleep" to make room for another. We are one of the very
few in the Metro St. Louis area. We work very, very hard to get our
critters adopted so that we can save another animal.
Here you can view all of our animals available for adoption, find
out how to become a volunteer, donate to the shelter or become a
member of our organization. Our shelter is open every day of the
week and open to the public every day except Tuesdays and
Wednesdays. You can also choose to come meet our volunteers at one
of our mobile Petsmart and Petco adoption events.

Estates and Planned Giving
Including the GCAPA in
your will or trust is a meaningful way to help
support
our “no kill” shelter. Many services and improvements to our shelter
could be made possible by people who have the foresight to include the
GCAPA in their estate plans.
Guardian Angels
Sponsor our Animals while they are at the Shelter waiting for
their forever homes. Would you consider becoming a Guardian
Angel for one of our Pets?
For months, even years,
they’ve waited patiently, ever watchful through doors of confinement,
their eyes searching for that special person to come for them. When it
is clear that today is not their day, they settle down with mute
acceptance to begin again the waiting and watching.
"I'm a little
shy, but you will find I am very loving once I get to know you"
It’s not their fault – they’ve done
nothing wrong. Maybe older, a little shy or timid, or perhaps not quite
physically perfect, each is completely whole in the only thing that
matters: a loving heart. Still, kittens, puppies, dogs and cats come and
go, leaving them behind.
Haven’t
they waited long enough? Make this their lucky day . . . and yours.

Mary Kay Tucker is one of the original

The following veterinarians participate in
the APA's Spay/Neuter Program, providing surgeries and veterinary care
to the animals in our shelter. Because of their concern for homeless
animals, we can ensure that the dogs and cats at the APA have excellent
care.
If you’re looking for a new veterinarian,
we suggest you contact one of those listed below. Make sure you tell
them THANK YOU for helping out the shelter!
